Lewis Rice
Freestyle Coach
Lewis hails from Lacombe, AB, not far from Canyon ski resort. He began skiing at aged 2, coached by his ex-racer mom. Until he was 13, hockey, baseball, and football came before skiing but in recent years, skiing has topped the bill. He is a self-described general outdoorsman with pursuits in hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, boating, and most recently ski touring.
Lewis was first introduced to Freestyle skiing through the Central Alberta Freestyle Ski Club where he was an athlete for four years. and was coached by Max Novotny and Collin Smith. He eventually made his way to the AB Mogul Team along with fellow FPSC coach Thomas Burnyeat. There he was an athlete for three years, competing on the NORAM tour at notable venues such as Deer Valley in Utah and training in amazing locations like Zermatt (Switzerland) and Mt. Hood (Oregon).
Lewis says, "I've been blessed with the opportunity to be coached by gurus/icons such as Rob Kober (Josh and Jordie too!), Stephen Fearing, and Steve Omischl and I hope to create the same fun and engaging training environment for my athletes as those coaches did for me."
